Management Team

Philip Fraser, President & Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Fraser is President and Chief Executive Officer of Killam. He has held this position since the inception of Killam Properties Inc., the predecessor of Killam Apartment REIT, in May 2000. Mr. Fraser has worked in the real estate industry for 29 years. Mr. Fraser holds a Masters of Business Administration from St. Mary's University, a Masters of Urban and Rural Planning and a Bachelor of Commerce from Dalhousie University. Mr. Fraser is a member of Board of Governors of St. Mary's University and also serves on the Board's executive committee, advancement committee and honorary degree committee.

Robert Richardson, Executive Vice President 

Robert Richardson is Killam's Executive Vice President, responsible for the Trust's operations and capital investment strategies. Mr. Richardson has held the position of EVP since Killam's inception in 2000, and prior to April 2017 Mr. Richardson also held the role of Chief Financial Officer. He is also President of Freehold Commercial Realty Limited, a commercial real estate management company based in Halifax. Most recently, Robert is co-founder of Sustane Technologies Inc., an advanced recycling company building a biomass pellet and syn-diesel plant in Chester, NS. Mr. Richardson has worked in real estate for 30 years and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Dalhousie University and is a Fellow Chartered Professional Accountant. Currently, Mr. Richardson is on the Board of Governors of Dalhousie University and in the past he has been Chair of the Board of Directors for the YMCA of Greater Halifax/Dartmouth and the Chair for the Board of Directors for the IWK Health Centre.

Dale Noseworthy, Chief Financial Officer

Dale Noseworthy joined Killam in May 2006. Prior to her appointment to CFO in 2017, Dale was Vice President, Investor Relations and Corporate Planning. Dale has 23 years of accounting, finance, investor relations and strategic planning experience. Prior to joining Killam, Dale worked as an equity research analyst at Beacon Securities and in various accounting and finance roles at Emera Inc. Dale has a Bachelor of Commerce from Mount Allison University and is a Chartered Professional Accountant and CFA charterholder. Dale is a member of the Board of Directors of the United Way Halifax, the Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) Foundation and Doors Open Halifax.

Ruth Buckle, Senior Vice President, Property Management

Ruth Buckle has worked in property management for more than 30 years, joining Killam in May 2003. As Vice President of Property Management, she is responsible for the operations of Killam's 16,000 unit apartment portfolio. Prior to joining Killam, Ruth held the position of Vice President, Property Management with O&Y Enterprise for 14 years. Ruth is a board member of the Canadian Federation of Apartment Associations (CFAA) and sits on the Halifax YWCA’s Advisory Council (ACWEE). 

Erin Cleveland, Senior Vice President, Finance

Erin Cleveland joined Killam Properties as Vice President Finance in May 2012. Erin has over 12 years of accounting and finance experience. Prior to joining Killam, Erin spent 7 years with Ernst & Young in their audit and advisory practice serving public and private entities. Erin holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Dalhousie University and is a Chartered Professional Accountant.

Jeremy Jackson, Vice President, Marketing

Jeremy Jackson joined Killam Properties in November 2005 as Vice President, Marketing and Sales. Jeremy has over 30 years of sales and market management experience. Prior to joining Killam, Jeremy had spent 10 years with Aliant Telecom in various managerial positions. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from St. Francis Xavier University and an MBA from St. Mary's University. Jeremy is the current President of the Investment Property Owners Association of Nova Scotia (IPOANS), sits on the board of directors for Shelter Nova Scotia, as well as various regional and national homelessness and affordable housing committees. Jeremy is also the Past President of Basketball Nova Scotia, Past Club President and a current coach for the West End Steelers Youth Basketball Club in Halifax.

Michael McLean, Senior Vice President, Development

Michael McLean has been working with Killam since its inception and has overseen the acquisition of the majority of Killam's apartments and MHCs throughout the country. Mr. McLean also manages Killam's apartment developments. Prior to working at Killam, Michael held technology consulting positions with a P-3 schools consortium and other local and national real estate firms. Michael holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from Dalhousie University and a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Dalhousie University (formerly Technical University of Nova Scotia).

Colleen McCarville, Vice President, Human Resources

Colleen McCarville joined Killam Properties in April of 2005. Colleen holds a BA from Saint Mary's University and a Diploma in Human Resources Management from Nova Scotia Community College. Colleen is a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) and completed her MBA at Saint Mary's University.

Nancy Alexander, Vice President, Investor Relations & Sustainability

Nancy Alexander joined Killam in August of 2012. Nancy holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Dalhousie University and is a Chartered Professional Accountant. She is currently responsible for Killam’s Investor Relations and Environment, Social & Governance (ESG) programs. Prior to joining Killam, Nancy held accounting and financial analytic roles in real estate and telecom.

Brian Jessop, Vice President, Operations

Brian Jessop was recently appointed Vice President of Operations. Overseeing capital infrastructure projects and building operations. Prior to joining Killam, he spent 12 years at Mount Saint Vincent University as VP Admin and Director of Facilities Management. Mr Jessop also worked at Bell Aliant in the Real Estate Services Division for Atlantic Canada and also at the QEII Health Sciences Centre. Mr Jessop is involved in a number of Property and Engineering Associations and has his Certified Property Management (CPM) through the Real Estate Institute of Canada (REIC). He recently received his ICD.D. through the Institute of Corporate Directors. He has served on a number of Boards and committees recently the Past Chair for Board of YMCA of Greater Halifax and Dartmouth and Canadian Universities Reciprocal Insurance Exchange Board.

Carrie Curtis VP Ontario & Alberta Image
Carrie Curtis, Vice President, Ontario & Alberta

Carrie Curtis joined Killam in April of 2019. Carrie holds a Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of Waterloo and is a Professional Engineer licensed in the Province of Ontario. Prior to joining Killam, Carrie spent 21 years in consulting engineering with focus primarily on the residential and ICI sectors. She is currently responsible for Killam’s Ontario and Alberta portfolio with involvement on both the development and property management components of the business.
